REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Less Screen TimeWhat did you notice in implementing this challenge? Was it hard to choose other activities over screen time? How did you decide to spend your time?
Jeffrey Swank 4/19/2021 4:27 AMIt wasn't very hard to find other activities to do. I took the time to make two composting rings this past weekend along with volunteering to help others. Hoping to continue to reduce screen time, and focus on more productive activities. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Compost Food WasteNew to composting? Be sure to check out the action resource links to learn tips and more about it. As you transition from throwing food away to composting, what do you notice about how much you are tossing? How will you use your compost once it is ready?
Jeffrey Swank 4/19/2021 4:25 AMI have noticed I do not throw much food away. Most of the waste is peals before cooking, and small amounts of leftovers that do not get eaten. Hoping to use the dirt to backfill holes in the yard. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Turn it offHow is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?
Jeffrey Swank 4/09/2021 10:58 AMThe primary carrier for this area uses coal, oil, natural gas, solar, wind and nuclear power. CO2 emissions are one of the main concerns with fossil fuel plants. While the nuclear plants produce very little, the mining of uranium does require equipment that does emit CO2. Coal ash is another concern as it contains hexavalent chromium which can cause cancer. Surprisingly, wind and solar actually have higher CO2 emissions than nuclear.-
Ken McLauchlan 4/20/2021 3:57 PMthank you for truly understanding and conveying this.
