In Closing what do we do next, how do we apply this to our local offices, homes, and partners in industry to continue the progression.

I was impressed to see how a small group from CCM made a major play in this challenge, in comparison to other teams our numbers were smaller but our participation greater than expected. Thank you all

the part of this that impresses me the most is that a small group of us made a major play on the ecco challenge, our team number was small, but we represented the company well Thanks again for the experience.

So with today being the end of this experience I wanted to express my thanks for all of the support and the opportunity. I learned a lot and experienced some new things to the extend that I made a donation to help this organization out, not for the points but to reward the effort of the team that put this together. Thank you.

I am amazed how much information is available for my use with this event. I did this originally to be part of a team, in the last couple of days I have realized how much I have learned and will put into our families daily process.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water Fix Leaky Faucets
Fixing leaky faucets is one of the tasks that we can easily put off until later. Good job on completing this action! How will you use the momentum from completing this action to increase your water efficiency in other ways?

In addition to the fixing the faucets we also applied low flow screen filter on the bathroom sinks to reduce the usage of water without truly realizing it (although you can tell with lack of pressure). we have also started to disconnect all hoses on outside spouts as it allows you to see small leaks and as well use the water that is left in the hose rather than letting run out on the concreate.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Go Paperless
Reducing your paper mail can reduce mental clutter as well as physical waste -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

    Ken McLauchlan 4/20/2021 6:53 AM
One of the greatest frustrations for me personally is the amount of "Junk Mail" that we receive every week. We feel that this is unsolicited, however at one point somewhere in time we probably provided our information to allow someone to send out information to us for a chance to win a trip or a gift card / etc. We need to be very careful for the options we sign up for or approve as it has long term effects on what is delivered to our homes that cost money to make, money to send, and ultimately money to haul away or recycle.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water Install a Low-Flow Showerhead
How can your region/household prepare for changing water situations in order to become more resilient?

    Ken McLauchlan's avatar
    Ken McLauchlan 4/20/2021 6:49 AM
Colorado has issues currently that are not getting better, our snow pack is at all time lows, our reservoirs in some cases are at 31% of capacity, and our usage does not seem to drop with current usage and additional demand from expanding metropolitan area and needs for water for not only personal consumption but to water the plants and animals they eat. Installing low flow shower heads, tap filters, and changing watering schedule on homes can greatly effect our usage.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Find Local Recycling Depots
Our ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors, including market demand for recyclables. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?

    Ken McLauchlan 4/20/2021 6:45 AM
In Colorado we are blessed with a very green movement, our local community requires recycling as part of the service, the company we use provide a recycle bin that allows us to compile two weeks of recyclable products which has also allow us to see truly how much recyclable waste we have and allows us to focus on how to reduce. In addition we found local programs for wood recycling, grocery stores that will recycle plastic bags, local church groups that are providing bags that are being converted into products to be sold and the money used for programs lessening the burden on society. Other states / provinces have programs that encourage recycling with deposits paid and applied to next purchase with return.

We see globally the effect on premanufactured / boxed / overly preserved food has done to societies and cultures. The adage of give a person food, you feed them for a day / week. Teach a person grow their own / forage / participate in local food shares will ultimately feed them for life. WE need to as a society work to allow everyone to have access to clean food and water, however it can not be as a hand out, it needs to have some form of work / payment involved as we do not need to develop the entitled mentality in the process. Everyone has a skill, time, or product to offer.
