Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 2 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Say No to Plastic StrawsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Conrad Ogden 4/22/2021 8:05 AMI've been re using this brita bottle that lets me save on straws. My single use is all silverware at meals. These one time use items could be metal instead, but thats a bit of a challenge in a dorm with no dishwasher.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Conrad Ogden 4/08/2021 7:51 AMI have this cool Brita water bottle my sister in law gave me. I refill it a lot throughout the day.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONWater 5-Minute ShowersName some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?
Conrad Ogden 4/08/2021 7:49 AMThis one isnt that bad because the quality of the showers here kind of encourage you to get out faster.-
Kenneth Slaysman 4/09/2021 2:19 PMConrad,
Ha Ha!! I generally get wet, turn off the water, soap up, turn water back on and rinse. It's not so bad.
