REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Jacob Carl 4/08/2021 8:01 AMNothing stood in my way of doing this outside of convenience. I only drink water, not coffee. I used a disposable mug I received from one of my rock climbing students. It brings me joy through climbing memories as well as impact to the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?
Jacob Carl 4/08/2021 7:59 AMSwitched to reusable bags on my shopping trip this week. I had reusable bags for awhile and wanted to use them, but kept forgetting them in the house before I went to the store. They are much easier to carry and didn't tear on the way in. All around a better tool. I am now storing my reusables by the door on my enclosed deck so I see them and do not forget them when going to the store. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Jacob Carl 4/01/2021 4:16 AMLast night I switch over to using a reusable water bottle during workouts. This will save about 2 bottles of water a day from having to be recycled. One barrier to using tap water is the taste and contents. I am used to well water which lacks the chlorinated taste in the city. To make this an option, I acquired a filter for my sink that makes the water bearable. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Switch to Cold WaterWhat do you plan to do with the money you save from making more energy efficient choices?
Jacob Carl 4/01/2021 4:11 AMThe money I will save by switching to cold water laundry as well as other energy efficient choices will be used to help pay for my upcoming wedding in 2022.
