REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Learn About & Practice Sustainable FashionHow can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?
Juli Bounds 4/16/2021 8:07 AMI am in the lucky position of knowing how to sew. In the past year I have been trying to sew a lot more things for myself. I have also embraced visible mending. there are tons of instagram accounts with mending inspiration and "slow fashion". I have also been researching companies that offer repair services on their clothes. I am sending a LL Bean jacket to have the zipper repaired. Also most dry cleaners offer basic repairs and alterations on clothes. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Track my PurchasesWhat have you noticed about your purchases? Where are you inclined to make shifts, if any?
Juli Bounds 4/16/2021 7:54 AMI have definitely noticed that I buy more when I am reminded to shop which maybe sounds obvious but if I take myself out of situations like going to Target or unsubscribing to emails from companies I am less likely to search out opportunities to buy things. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Try a New Way to PrepCanning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA or another trusted source. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?
Juli Bounds 4/16/2021 6:02 AMI have done some very basic pickling with cucumbers and sauerkraut but I definitely want to expand what I am preserving. I want to experiment more with apple sauce and tomato sauce because we have such good produce around here it would be great to preserve that for the sad winter months. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Walk InsteadHalf of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Does this statistic describe your own transportation habits? If so, how might you incorporate more muscle-powered transportation in your daily life?
Juli Bounds 4/09/2021 8:37 AMI normally walk to work but if it is raining or threatening to rain I would normally drive but today I put on my rain boots and grabbed an umbrella. Just having a little extra push to walk is good. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Support A Sharing EconomyWhat benefits does a sharing economy offer to your own life? What benefits does it offer to your neighbors' and community members' lives?
Juli Bounds 4/01/2021 3:06 PMI joined the Carlisle buy nothing Facebook group as a way to support sharing/ buy nothing efforts. It is a great way to declutter in a way that assures your things will be used again and is also a way to find used items right in my own neighborhood.-
