  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Learn About Renewable Energy
What inspires you to act on sustainable energy and other energy issues?

There are many benefits to renewable energy, from the fact that it pollutes the air less, to the fact that anybody can run a house off of solar energy.
Well that and the CYBERTRUCK 🤩

Writing down 3 things that I'm grateful for hit home today...
Water was turned off at the house last night & this morning 😒
Makes me doubly grateful for the days that I do have running water
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste RESEARCH LOCAL WASTE SITES
In what neighborhoods or areas of your region are landfills or other waste sites located? Which communities are most affected by these locations?

    Jon Rush's avatar
    Jon Rush 4/08/2021 8:18 AM
I have a waste water treatment plant down the road from where I live and it's definitely something that leaves a mark behind. Every time I drive by, I have to make sure that the windows are all rolled up and the air filtration is recycling air from inside my car, otherwise the very strong odor of the plant will get into my car. I can only imagine what this does to the housing developments less than a half mile from this area.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Learn About & Practice Sustainable Fashion
How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?

    Jon Rush's avatar
    Jon Rush 4/08/2021 8:16 AM
I can change my phone wallpaper, lock screen, my watch's face, and computer background & screensaver. Additionally, when clothes get holes in them, see if there is a way to mend them to continue wearing them. I have done this recently by buying jean patches and combining them with spray cloth adhesive to get them back into working order so I don't have to buy new jeans.

Writing down 3 things that I am grateful for has begun to evolve, I actually began to look forward to doing this today. The first day I wrote something fairly generic, but I had to actually dig a little deeper to keep from repeating myself, and in the process, realizing all of the little things that I take for granted each day.
I think this may be something I continue to do even after the challenge is over.

I wrote down 3 things that I am grateful for, decided to keep the sticky note on my monitor to remind me that even when I am feeling down, I have so much more to be happy about.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Exercise Daily
How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

    Jon Rush's avatar
    Jon Rush 4/05/2021 6:12 AM
I need to find an exercise buddy to help keep me accountable. I used to do this with my sister, but she doesn't seem to have the time anymore.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Limit Social Media
Social media can keep us connected with loved ones, make us laugh, and help us to learn new things. It can also create echo chambers and take more time than we realize or intend to give. After completing this action for a few days, how do you feel? What do you notice?

    Jon Rush's avatar
    Jon Rush 4/05/2021 6:11 AM
I've noticed that when speaking to friends, I can ask them how their day is going and not already know (which can sometimes create dead-spots in conversations).
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Happiness
How does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?

    Jon Rush's avatar
    Jon Rush 4/05/2021 6:06 AM
Keeping a positive outlook on your actions can really help to show you and those around you that even when it seems all is lost, better days are just around the corner!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four in the US spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

    Jon Rush's avatar
    Jon Rush 4/05/2021 6:05 AM
It does not surprise me, that is why now I always finish my steak (Thanks Tim! 🤣)
I'd much rather spend it on something a little more substantial that will last longer.
