REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Go get a check upHow do you practice self care?
Lindsey Lyons 4/16/2021 11:45 AMFor me self care comes mostly in good food and drink, mindful walks in the evenings and good quality soaps, shampoo and personal care items. I love good essential oils and time to relax near a diffuser in the evening. I have been treating myself to good, local kumbucha as of late as well.-
Mariana Past 4/20/2021 5:26 PMStopping to breathe slowly is a wonderful way to engage in self care. It's easy to keep tackling things on unending to-do lists all day long...all week long...unless one pauses to deliberately be calm, present, and appreciate things like the quality of light coming through new green leaves all around.

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Needs Vs. WantsHow is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?
Lindsey Lyons 4/16/2021 11:39 AMThe more creative you are, the more you can do with what you have. You don't need to buy as much as new if you can be thoughtful and repurpose things you have. Life is simple if you don't clutter and be creative. My skill is organization. My simplicity comes from organization. One of everything and I know where it is. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Try a New Way to PrepCanning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA or another trusted source. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?
Lindsey Lyons 4/12/2021 8:26 AMI love our local peaches, but the season is so short. This year, I want to commit to canning and freezing them while they are plentiful and local! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Limit Social MediaSocial media can keep us connected with loved ones, make us laugh, and help us to learn new things. It can also create echo chambers and take more time than we realize or intend to give. After completing this action for a few days, how do you feel? What do you notice?
Lindsey Lyons 4/12/2021 8:23 AMI don't always use social media for the right reasons. I agree there is a lot of good that can come with it, and I love connecting with old friends and distant family. However, I do find myself looking at mindless things and comparing to others in negative ways at time. I discovered and can and should use social media with a purpose, but not just for aimless scrolling when bored. There are better ways to spend my time!-
Emily Pineo 4/15/2021 4:48 AMI recently watched "The Social Dilemma", and now whenever I'm "endlessly" scrolling all I can think about is the constantly updating formula being created to keep me online for as long as possible. Now I feel like I'm outsmarting the phone when I turn it off, haha!

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Eat MindfullyMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How do your eating experiences differ when practicing mindfulness?
Lindsey Lyons 4/12/2021 8:20 AMI love family dinners! We have a no screen rule at the table for family dinners. Being at home more during the pandemic really gave us more dinners together, and ore time to put the screens down. When practicing mindfulness, we talk more and time at the table lasts longer! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Joyful MovementWhat's your favorite activity(ies) in which you experience joy while being active and moving?
Lindsey Lyons 4/07/2021 7:09 PMLately, I've been walking while my sons are at baseball practice. Listening to music, putting the phone away and typically watching the sunset in the evenings. So refreshing. I've been trying to get up and move between zoom meetings in the day- just a few squats or jumping jacks really revive my energy levels. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity De-Clutter My Home or Dorm RoomHow can you prevent yourself from accumulating more unnecessary things in the future?
Lindsey Lyons 4/06/2021 10:36 AMI try to practice the behavior of donating something every time I acquire something new. For example, if I get some new (to me) clothing item, I add something that I no longer use to my donate pile. I am really trying to only acquire things I need and keep things simple. Quarantine allowed me the time to deep clean and organize and purge items I had been holding onto that I no longer need. Threw virtually nothing away though! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Work-Life BalanceHow might practicing work-life balance lead to a more sustainable life for yourself? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?
Lindsey Lyons 4/06/2021 10:31 AMBeing happy and refreshed makes you more productive. Yesterday was my first business day off since the new year. It felt great to spend time outside, off screens working to resume some sort of balance from lots of hours online. Personal time is time well spent that will lead to a more sustainable life for me, and making me a better member of the communities around me. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Go For A Daily Walk OutsideFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Lindsey Lyons 4/06/2021 9:48 AMI am so much more productive after a walk outside! The warmer weather really me helps my energy level and I love taking e-calls outside! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Lindsey Lyons 4/01/2021 9:49 AMEveryone loves being told they are doing a good job. When they feel good, they perform better in every way! Make others feel that so that we can keep moving forward together.
