Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

    Michelle Fellner's avatar
    Michelle Fellner 4/20/2021 5:12 PM
It takes a huge area to cultivate meat. Area that could be used to grow more vegetables and create fields to feed bees and will create more opportunities for pollination. Also the amount of gas and waste that animals produce that are just butchered far outweighs any benefit of eating it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Buy From a Farmers Market
What is one food choice that you make, or could make, that would do more good and less harm?

    Michelle Fellner's avatar
    Michelle Fellner 4/20/2021 5:09 PM
The food choices I make are I don’t care if the produce looks perfect, then the farmer can sell their produce every if it doesn’t meet the typical grocery store standards.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Meet My Local Farmers
When you know who produces your food, you are connecting personally to your complex regional food system. What are the advantages of knowing who produces your food and where it comes from? How can knowing their food producers enable someone to advocate for a better quality of life for those who produce their food, both near and far?

    Michelle Fellner's avatar
    Michelle Fellner 4/20/2021 5:08 PM
Knowing where my food comes from has the advantage of knowing the pesticides, if any, that they use and also what their mission statement is regarding sustainability.
Knowing our food producers will allow us to better support the smaller guys and help them increase their profits which in turn will help them pay for better ways to produce the food.

Keeping myself reminded to be grateful daily helps me focus on the day ahead and keep kindness in the forefront of my actions. I started a grateful jar and keep it on my kitchen table!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Plant an Herb Garden
Consider the ways you can garden: a plot of land? a patio container? hanging basket? windowsill gardens? What would work best for your living situation and lifestyle?

I planted a windowsill herb garden until it warms up, then I will do tomatoes and peppers outside in containers. I don’t have a plot of land, but will in the future!
